Kiki Iris's Birth Story: Our First Clinic Delivery in America

Kiki Iris's Birth Story: Our First Clinic Delivery in America

Recently, one of our wonderful girls — Kiki Iris — gave birth to puppies. This time the father was Freddy, a handsome black and tan male, and we expected calm, routine home delivery as we've done many times before.

But things didn't go quite as planned. I realized in time that Kiki was struggling, and we made the decision to rush to the clinic. Fortunately, there was an excellent 24-hour veterinary clinic nearby. We were seen almost immediately — they gave us a private room, examined Kiki thoroughly, and confirmed that a C-section wasn't necessary.

Then the real action began. It turned out our Kiki was carrying quite large puppies — noticeably bigger than her previous litter. The first and fourth puppies were breech, coming feet-first, and the veterinarian had to carefully assist Kiki with each of them. These were challenging deliveries — the doctor gently held each puppy by the feet, guiding them out while supporting Kiki through it all.

It was both serious and a little frightening to watch, but it also gave us invaluable experience seeing how professionals handle these situations. And our brave Kiki handled it brilliantly!

All four puppies were born absolutely healthy and strong — beautiful black and tan coloring, absolutely perfect. Weights started from 146 grams, with the last and largest puppy — who also came breech — weighing in at 150 grams. Kiki proved herself to be a true hero mom!

By evening she was already nursing her babies contentedly, and by morning we were all home. The puppies spent their first couple of days in an incubator as a precaution, and they're now gaining weight beautifully.

This was our first experience with a clinic birth here in America, and we couldn't be happier with how it went. The staff was incredibly professional, and the level of care was outstanding.

What surprised and moved me most was the immediate bonding — as soon as each puppy was born, the cord was carefully handled, the puppy started breathing, and they immediately placed the baby with Kiki so she could lick and meet her newborn. Watching Kiki's joy as she sniffed each tiny puppy was incredibly touching.

When I assist with births at home, I tend to get more nervous and anxious. But here, the veterinarian was so competent and calm that it made all the difference. We'll share videos and photos soon so you can see how these wonderful little Russian Toy miracles come into the world!
